trumpa baltuju garniu 2008 perejimo reziume: Elektrenu kolonijoj issiperejo nemaziau 5 poru, Druksiu naujojoj kolonijoj nemaziau 10 poru. taigi sekmingai- vel daugiau nei pernai :) ...beje, atsizvelgiant i siu metu patirti, tiketina, kad ir ankstesniais metais ju galejo pereti daugiau nei buvom rase, nes del koloniju specifikos suskaiciuoti tiksliai nera paprasta...

dabar norime paskaiciuoti, kiek ju laikosi Lietuvoje neperejimo metu. kaip tik siuo metu laiku yra pikas, kai baltuju garniu pas mus didziausi skaiciai. taigi prasymas visiems, kas matote siu pauksciu, trumpai parasykit, kur kada ir kiek stebejote. ypac reiketu apziureti zuvininkystes tvenkinius, ten ju daugiausia :wink:
rasyt galit tiek cia, tiek asmeniskai :)

We had 4.9.2008 majority of BV's Egrets in the same pool, G2, which was lately dried. A precise count gave 320 birds and we assume that in the other pools, especially on A side the number was close to 50. So, together probably 370 Egrets. It would be interested to know also Ardea's number because it is said that Egret may take place from Ardea in some regions.

In Belarussia our team saw and photographed an adult Egret with red legs. The Bird had also a fully black bill. I've seen in Tarsiger a photo of similar kind of an Egret. I hope that such birds in Lithuania will be reported to "Naujasis Stebejimai" if LOD allows.

Egrets with red legs and black bills as I suppose are at the time of courtship. I saw such one near Elektrėnai in spring:

It is interesting thing that this bird looks smaller than Egrets with yellow bils. :idea: :)

P.S. It looks that Phalaropus lobatus also presents in this picture :D

INTERESTING indeed, very likely your theory about breeding phase is true but it doesn't explain why ALL the birds are not having red legs. The bird in the photo can be TRI ERY rather than Phalarope.

Yes you are right. I looked at some pictures of breeding birds taken in breeding areas however most of them had yellow bill. Maybe it is associated with some recessive genes, maybe with different populations or lack of females in some areas or something else more...we may only assume why such interesting attribute have some individuals :roll:

You are also right according to wader. it seems that it is not Phalaropus. However it could be and TRI STA :)

Iš tikrųjų man irgi įdomu kokiu tikslu vykdoma ši apskaita ar kaip čia dabar tiksliau pavadint. Nes kažkas panašaus jau anksčiau buvo užklausta apie kormoranus...Klausiu ne todėl, kad čia būtų kažkas blogo, tiesiog įdomu ar kada bus tokie duomenys apibendrinti, publikuoti.


O dėl raudonų kojų ir tamsaus snapo, tai Svensson'o, Mullarney et al. apibūdintojo vokiškam vertime būtent taip ir rašo, kad rausvos/raudonos kojos ir tamsus snapas būdingas poravimosi metu.
